Marblehead's own Shalane Flanagan became the firs U.S. woman to win the NYC marathon since 1977. Amazing. She took the lead right before the 23rd mile. And her fastest mile was ahead: she ran her 24th mile in 5:11, her 25th in 5:04 and her 26th in 5:12.
Flanagan finished with a time of 2 hours, 26 minutes, 53 seconds. Greased lightning!
