Sir Elton and Mum Speaking To Each Other After Nine-Year Rift

Nine years is a very long time to not speak to your mother Elton. But, I get it. Relationships can be challenging and sometimes....maybe a break is needed to gain perspective. Not that I've ever had any personal experience with that. 😉

Elton John and his mother, Sheila Farebrother, are on good terms after a nine-year feud.

The Rocket Man revealed the thaw over the weekend with an Instagram message featuring a photo of the two of them and the caption, "Dear Mum, Happy Mother's Day! So happy we are back in touch. Love, Elton xo."

In February, John told Britain's Sunday Mirror that "Out of respect for my mother's privacy I have always shied away from speaking publicly about our relationship. However, I can say that we are now back in touch and have been so since my mother's 90th birthday."

John and his mother reportedly fell out during 2008 when she refused his request to cut ties with his former manager John Reid and old friend Bob Halley after John fell out with them. During 2015 Farebrother said she was no longer on speaking terms with her son and hadn't met his two sons with husband David Furnish. Her 90th birthday party last year, where she hired an Elton John lookalike to entertain, apparently helped break the ice between the two.

John is currently recovering after being hospitalized in April for a serious bacterial infection he apparently picked up during his latest South American tour. He's slated to kick off a U.K. tour on June 3 in Twickenham.
