Call Him Sir Ray Davies

The British Empire gained another Commander of the Most Excellent Order from the music world.

The Kinks’ Ray Davies received the prestigious CBE yesterday (March 16) and was knighted by Prince Charles himself.  Davies joins the likes of Paul McCartney, Elton John, Rod Stewart, Brian May, George Martin and many other notable rockers to receive the honor.

Kinks frontman Ray Davies knighted by Prince Charles

Ray Davies, writer and lead singer of the Kinks, picked up a knighthood for services to the arts. The man behind the likes of Sunny Afternoon and Waterloo Sunset received his honour from Prince Charles and let on that his writing days are not yet over.
