This is news Van Halen fans have been wanting to hear for a long time.
Former bassist Michael Anthony says he's again in touch with the group that unceremoniously ousted him in 2007, via drummer Alex Van Halen. Anthony told Trunk Nation that he was cruising on his boat during May with a mutual friend, talking about the old days.
"Next thing you know, I've got him holding his phone up, shooting a video going, 'Hey Alex, Man! Just talking about the good times'...Later on we were at my house, my buddy and myself, and his phone rings, and it's Alex. He's all, 'Hey, tell Mike I said hi!' Next thing I know he's handing me the phone...and I hadn't spoken to Alex in, like, 10 or 11 years."
Anthony said the two "didn't want to get into anything about the band, but it was just great to talk to him. We talked for about 20 minutes and had a great conversation about life in general, getting older and what's going on around us in the music industry."
Eddie Van Halen's son -- and Alex's nephew -- Wolfgang has been in Anthony's spot since 2007.
Van Halen has not announced any plans after releasing a live album and touring in 2015.
