Bob Weir Receiving First Les Paul Spirit Award
This year’s Bonnaroo festival with feature the presentation of a new award.
The Les Paul Foundation has announced the creation of the Les Paul Spirit Award, with the first recipient being Grateful Dead guitarist Bob Weir. Executive Director of the Les Paul Foundation Michal Braunstein said in a statement, “I cannot think of anyone more fitting to be honored with the first annual Les Paul Spirit Award than Bob Weir. Not only is he an extraordinary talent who has given us an amazing array of legendary music, but he is an innovator who understands music, technologies and the spirit of Les Paul.”
Janis Joplin’s Childhood Home Up For Sale
Finally, one of the largest Janis Joplin artifacts is up for sale.
Per Rolling Stone, Joplin’s childhood home in Port Arthur, Texas is on the market. Even though five-bedroom, three-bathroom home would normally sell between $70,000-80,000, the asking price right now is $500,000.
Even for the sake of history, that’s quite the markup.
