Hear My Picks For Bob Dylan's Birthday - Julie Devereaux

"You don't need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows.

All the money you make will never buy back your soul.

The sun's not yellow, its chicken!

That he not busy being born
Is busy dying."

Don't you feel like there was never a time in your life when there was no Bob Dylan? I sure do. Do you think if he was just starting out today, anyone would even give him a listen? I sure don't.

For the record, I'm a fan. I know I've seen him at least twice, once with the Dead and once with Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers. (I can't recall if I've ever seen him solo? I think I might have?).

I do remember when I first heard Bob Dylan. I was a kid, living in Washington state and "Like A Rolling Stone" came on the radio that sat on top of the fridge. I soaked it up like a sponge. To this day when I hear that song it takes me directly back to 1965. I'd heard other Dylan songs prior to that but they were all covered by other artists (Peter, Paul & Mary, The Byrds, Sonny & Cher, The Turtles).

Dylan released a new album last Friday, "Fallen Angels". Do you know he has well over 600 songs in his catalog?! Here's a couple I'm in the mood for right now. I can't pick a favorite because, for me, music is an "in the moment" thing and in this moment, I'm feelin' these:

This song literally makes me melt.

I'm feelin' this one too!
