Why I Traded The Who For The Animals - Julie Devereaux

Today's Eric Burdon's birthday. I remember hearing (on radio) and then seeing (on TV) The Animals when I was a kid and falling in lust with their music. I traded my Tommy album by The Who for an Animals greatest hits double album. I pestered every dj at every dance with Animals requests (specifically their version of "See See Rider"...YEA!!!!)

They did so many kick ass songs, too many to list. The one song that never really moved me? The one they're best known for. You know, that song about the brothel. Eh. But give me some "Hey Gyp", "Monterey", "Inside Lookin' Out", "When I Was Young"?  WOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

Eric Burdon's playing the Lowell Summer Music Series July 22nd. Noted. Oh, and Happy Birthday Eric.
