SEE: Hank's First Springsteen Show!

They say you always remember your first time! Last night was the first time for my wife and I and we've been married for almost 22 years! Yes, we've finally seen Bruce Springsteen and we will remember this concert for a lifetime!! He is superhuman!!!

Our friends Heather and Steve Ruemenapp generously treated us to the show last night AND it was in a luxury suite (humble brag). I'm usually in the cheap seats for concerts because those seats are the most affordable. WELL, these seats were adjacent to stage right and we had a great vantage point for "The River Tour", a tribute to his 1980 album "The River".

First of all, "The Boss" has the energy of a 25-year-old fitness fanatic. He defies aging! He's fit, ripped, smiling and ready to rock as soon as he hits the stage. He also takes time to tell stories and explain some of the back stories to the lyrics in songs.

Some of my favorite things from last night's show:

He crowd surfed during "Hungry Heart", which started with the audience singing the first few verses, with "The Boss" chiming in.

His performance of "Independence Day": Sarah Rodman of the Boston Globe wrote about this in today's Boston Globe and I was struck by it, as well. Bruce talked about how at some point you realize that your parents, who are sometimes viewed as out of touch and without grand ambition, had their own goals and life objectives, but compromised and sacrificed for their families along the way. It was very touching.

His connection to the audience. Like a lot of performers, Bruce uses catwalks to get out and perform in the crowd. He sings to his fans and connects with them like it's their own personal concert. He's so genuine and real.

Good friends of mine, Julie and Mark Andrew, have seen Bruce more than 50 times. Julie's cousins have seen him over 75 times and another WROR listeners said last night was his 103rd show! After last night's performance, which was nearly 3 1/2 hours long, I understand why!!!
